Caledonian Meet - FOUR POOL RECORDS FALL ON NIGHT 2!!
from Stingray Swimming Club Website.
"Results are now available for sessions 1 and 2 of the Caledonian Meet. On the second night of competition, four Lions Pool Records were broken, two by Lara Butler, one by visiting Aussie swimmer Cara Davidson and one by Caymanian Olympian Shaune Fraser.
Shaune and brother Brett started out the evening with an exhibition swim, in which Shaune smashed the Pool Record by more than 2 seconds, swimming the 50M Butterfly in 24.77 Seconds. Brett narrowly missed a Pool Record himself, swimming a 26.68 second 50M back, just short of the record of 26.61 held by Olympic gold medalist, Jeff Rouse of the USA.
Lara later took down the 13-14 girls 100free and 400IM records in times of 1:02.28 and 5:17.22. The fourth Lions Pool record of the night was in the senior 200back, Cara Davidson clocking in at 2:24.70 having flown in from Melbourne, Australia less than 24 hours prior, boy her arms were tired!"
"It is an amazing sight, seeing the calm waters along Seven Mile Beach being churned up by the progress of over 500 enthusiastic swimmers. From Olympic champions to first time swim participants, the annual Flowers Sea Swim has drawn amazing numbers of swimmers over the last 17 years, demonstrating time and time again that Cayman has a place among the top open water swimming destinations in the world. The event returns on 20 June and promises to be bigger and better than ever" Sunday Observer 14/06/09.
"With warm, calm and crystal clear waters, Cayman is widely recognised for the perfect open water swimming conditions it provides. Locals turn out in their droves whenever a sea swim takes place, with many visitors from the United States and even as far afield as Australia becoming regular visitors to the island".
